Rediscovering Froebel: Aesthetics in early years mathematics

Friedrich Froebel was the founder of the kindergarten movement, starting the first kindergarten in Bad Blankenburg, Germany in 1837. His work inspired Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner and Frank Lloyd Wright, among others.

In this webinar we will rediscover the potential of Froebel's gifts (www.froebelgifts.com) and occupations in early childhood mathematics learning, with a particular focus on how aesthetic dimensions are visible through children’s active engagement with the gifts.

Parents As Educators 2

Every day, parents pack the bags of their early learners and send them off to school. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they could pack their little minds with the skills, concepts and attitudes to ensure they achieve success as emerging mathematicians?

The Importance of Talk

This webinar will discuss the importance of talk as part of a quality mathematical learning environment for young children.

Mathematical Thinking in Early Years Webinar Series
Supporting young children to become mindful mathematical learners (Part 2)
This presentation is focused on key mathematical processes - problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication and connections and habits of mind such as curiosity, imagination and persistence which together are as important as mathematical content in a high quality early childhood mathematics program.

Debunking misconceptions about mathematics in the Early Years

This professional learning session discusses common misconceptions about mathematics in the early years, critical mathematical ideas underpinning number sense and the role of the early childhood educator.
